There is no such thing as the perfect place. But one where no one judges each other, nothing is for sale and love and freedom abides is pretty close to being it. I wonder if Burning Man was an actual city, would it lose its magic?
One of my favorite things about it was to witness all the art that was crafted and installed with no monetary compensation, no marketing and no strings attached. Most of the art is set on fire anyways – like the man on the photo above. It is pure self-expression. No ego. No strategy. No agenda. It is pure love for the art itself – its creation and its destruction. And it reminded me of why I started writing my book. Because I just can’t not write it.
You get a strange feeling when you’re about to leave a place, I told him, like you’ll not only miss the people you love but you’ll miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you’ll never be this way ever again. ― Azar Nafisi, Reading Lolita in Tehran
